Oriental University Indore Celebrates International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day celebration was organized in Oriental University Indore Campus on June 21st, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am. All the faculty, staff and students had actively participated in the celebration where Dean and Director (Prof.) Dr. R. K. Jain gave a brief over “Yog Shastra”.

Beginning of the program marked the acknowledgement of Patanjali Ashtang Yog, that involved Yam, Niyam, Aasan, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dharana, Dhyan and Samadhi. Later, (Prof.) Neelu Gupta, under the directions of (Prof.) Dr. R. K. Jain taught the importance of Pranayam in daily life.

Pranayam was performed beginning with the chanting of Omkar Mantra. Then Nadi Shuddhi , Kapal Bhati, Bhramari yog was performed by everyone under the directions of Dr. Neelu Gupta. Yoga positions namely Naad, Kundli, Aasan and types of Chakra were taught. Suryanamaskar was thoroughly practiced by all.

Respected Vice Chancellor Dr. Devendra Pathak, Director(Planning and Development) Shri Gaurav Thakral, Registrar Shri Lalit Awasthi added a special note of thanks to all the participants.

Respected Chancellor Dr. K. L. Thakral concluded the program with his words. He motivated to make Yog a daily routine and opt a healthy way of living.

Mega Plantation Program marks World Environment Day at Oriental University

A mega sapling plantation program was organized at Oriental University on June 5 to mark the #WorldEnvironmentDay. To mark the occasion, a large number of saplings were planted on the university campus by the University Chancellor Dr. K L Thakral, Vice-chancellor Dr. Devendra Pathak, Director Shree Gaurav Thakral. The Drive was conceived and executed by Newly formed Department of Agriculture Science. Dr. Devesh Pandey along with his department faculty members took this initiative of Plantation drive.

 

Dr. G.S. Sharma (HOD- ME), Prof. Khatri ( Principal Polytechnic College),  Dr. M.K. Gupta Dean –  Pharmacy), Mr. P.K. Sharma (DGM – Corporate affairs) ,  Registrar Mr. Lalit Awasthy, Mr. Mukul Shukla ( Admin) & Prasanna Ojha ( Head T & P) took part in this drive.

Addressing university staff, faculty members, deans and HoDs, both the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor of the university underlined the need of environment conservation, more so because of growing urbanization, industrialization, and air pollution. On the occasion, a collective pledge was also taken to plant saplings in a large number so as to conserve the environment and balance the ecosystem. The plantation program had been organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Oriental University.

A farewell function of the final year students of the department of Pharmacy, Oriental University, – christened as HORIZON 2K218, was organised at the Pharmacy dept auditorium of the university. Addressing the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Devendra Pathak wished good luck to all the students for their future career and hoped that they will act as brand ambassadors of the Oriental university in the outside world. Oriental School of Law Organised “Legal Aid Camp” at Gram Lohar Piplia, Shipra, Dist. Dewas

Oriental School of Law organised “Legal Aid Camp” at Gram Lohar Piplia, Shipra, District, Dewas on 05/04/18. It was a law awareness program for villagers. Pro. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramaswamy, Oriental University, Indore, Secretary of Legal Aid Cell, ADJ Shamrooz Khan, Dewas & C.E.O., Janpat Shri Vinod Yadav, Sarpanch and Secretary of Gram Panchayat Lohar Piplia & their staff were also present. Prof.(Dr.) Priya Sepaha, Principal Oriental School of Law explained the motive of the camp and also briefed the villagers about their Fundamental Rights, legal rights and the provisions made by the Department of Social Justice. Students of B.A.LL.B (Hons.) through “Nukkad natak” explained the social evils of society & laws related to it. LL.M students gave a brief introduction about some of the laws. ADJ also briefed about the activities of Legal Aid Cell. It was followed by a question-answer session. The initiative taken by the University was appreciated by the villagers. Dr. K.L. Thakral, Hon’ble Chancellor, Oriental University Indore has commended the efforts of School of Law in providing an opportunity to the aspiring law graduates to visit the rural areas and to get a first-hand experience of the situations prevailing there and to flag the challenges that are encountered in the legal justice delivery system. He also thanked the C.E.O. Zila Panchayat Shri Rajiv Ranjan Meena and his team for their valuable support in organizing the events. Dr. Thakral especially thanked ADJ Shamrooz Khan for providing valuable inputs and expert guidance in organizing the Legal Aid Camp.”

Seminar on “Impact of Cinema on Society” was organized by OSBM & C Department

On 16th March 2018 under the Mentor-ship of Director & Dean OSBM & C Dr. R. K. Jain, a very interesting seminar on “Impact of Cinema on Society” was organized by OSBM & C.

The distinguished guest & speaker for the day, Chief of Vak Production Ms. Rachna Johri took thorough the audience from period of pre independence to present times with her very precise choice of Cinematic scenes, songs & Dialogues. This created a very deep sense of understanding of this very powerful media called Cinema among the audience.

The program was initiated with impressing clips of Amir Khan Dialogues and took the audience through 30, 60s and 70s and to the current period of cinema. The Very beginning of Cinema in India with the production of Raja Harish Chandra in 1923 represented the social icon of Indian society who stood for truth. She explained the role of Cinema in representing the Social, political & Religious issues of particular time period and how it impacted the society by her meticulous choice of Cinema video & Audio Clips & Select songs.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H. R. Singh in his welcome speech addressed the very need of use of this powerful media in learning process. He emphasized that there should be more such attempts be made to connect the learning process with cinematic expression for lasting learning.

In his Blessing address Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. K. L. Thakral expressed his affirmation to this attempt of OSBM & C to use such an innovative approach of making learning so much eventful. He also stressed on need of doing more positive for society by cinema in current times of transition where Moral values are at stack.

The program was attended by Principals & HODs of various departments along with staff and their students.
