`Students be engaged for clinical, non-clinical works for better cancer diagnostic requirements’

Indore:  Senior cancer surgeon and noted oncologist of Raman Foundation Cancer Care & Research Centre, Dr S S Nayyar here today underlined the need of engaging services of students both for clinical and non-clinical works for better understanding of cancer diagnostic requirements. While addressing a seminar on `Ill effects of tobacco consumption on human body’ organised by Oriental University in association with the Indian Medical Association, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, the Central  Lab and the Raman Foundation Cancer Care & Research Centre here today, Dr Nayyar said India has the highest number of oral cancer deaths in the world and tobacco consumption is the root cause of oral cancer which can be prevented by spreading awareness among people about its ill effects.

Dr Vinita Kothari, CEO, Central Lab, Indore in her address said all non-transferable diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and depression are life-style generated diseases and if the younger generation takes care of their life style issues, many of these diseases can be prevented.

He said the machine has been validated at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and several other hospitals and cancer screening camps, and has the potential to be used as a stand-alone tool for early detection of oral cancer across the country.”
