Message from Vice-Chancellor’s Desk

The man who strongly believed and followed the dictum “Knowledge is Power”, Late Dr. K L Thakral, established Oriental University, Indore (OUI), with a vision to educate and empower the youth.

Ironically, this thought, exactly matches my own vision of education and I feel very fortunate to get an opportunity to lead OUI. Having been associated with the academic world for more than 3 decades, I have visited, worked and collaborated with a large number of institutes, colleges and universities. My career in Chess gives me huge exposure and interaction with pure unadulterated intelligence. Yet, I find the youth of today, incomplete & lacking in many ways. Oriental gives me free rein to mold, shape and cast the country’s youth into globally competent, Indian at heart & morally sound individuals. Then & only then, I believe, that youth will be truly educated.

The University has crossed many milestones in a single decade. We offer education at all levels, viz, Diploma, Undergraduate, Post-graduate and PhD in different disciplines of Agriculture, Commerce, Computer Applications, Education, Engineering, Law, Library & Information Sciences, Management, Media Studies, Pharmacy, Science etc. All the programs offered by our university follow the guidelines of UGC and other regulatory bodies.

At Oriental, however, skill and knowledge are served in different ways, than usual. We emphasize and foster critical thinking, cooperation and creativity among students and thus nurture intellect. Implementation of ideas, energetic faculty members and active engagement in academics has made us special. OUI is a renowned university in the field of research in Central India. Throughout Madhya Pradesh we have proved our mettle and have been conferred with many awards since inception. Recently some achievements were added to our credit and these are the awards for “Top Emerging Private University in Central India in 9th Asia Education Summit 2022, The National Awards in Education Excellence”, “The Best Private University of Research in Madhya Pradesh 2022 by CEGR” and “Awarded State Rank 3rd, Zone Rank 4th and National Rank 49 in Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2022”. The secret behind winning such awards is the consistency and hard work put in by every member of the organization. I am fortunate to have a team of hardworking intellectuals girded up to train young minds and thus expand their horizons. Our faculty members create a joyful learning environment for the university students and are devoted to their holistic development.

Prominent features of the university include State of Art laboratories, Central Library with ample collection of books and periodicals, open Wi-Fi system for students and teachers, well equipped campus for physical training, sports and outdoor activities etc. All such features make Oriental a destination for knowledge seekers. In today’s Tech – Savvy world, we aim to be recognized globally. Our MoUs with National and International organizations are part of our global recognition mission. The university provides a complete package for the holistic development of future professionals. With constant progress Oriental University, Indore is marching forward as an organization of International repute in the field of higher education.
