Vision

The Oriental University Library’s vision is to cater to the informational, academic and research needs of the University fraternity, primarily and global community in general, thus, enabling the Oriental  University to achieve excellence in teaching, learning and research.

Mission

The Mission of OU Central Library is to provide user-oriented library services to enhance the teaching, learning and research activities of the Oriental University by providing them with high quality academic and research resources.

Objectives

To achieve the vision and mission of the library, the Central Library has the following objectives:

• Select, acquire and organise high quality, relevant and up to date information resources according to need and requirement of the university fraternity;
• Select and depute qualified, experienced and dedicated library staff to offer high-quality library services to the users;
• Develop, maintain and promote a wide range of library services to optimize the use of library resources;
• Organise frequently user orientation and staff training programmes for optimum utilization of the resources of the library; and
• Adopt the latest tools and technologies to provide library services to the users more effectively and efficiently.

Central Library of Oriental University of Indore is a home for the large collection of learning resources on Arts, Humanities, pharmacy Agriculture ,Engineering, Management  . The Library supports research and educational endeavours of Students, Research Scholars, and the Faculties of the university by collecting, organizing, preserving and disseminating information and provides instructional programs in all formats through need-based services and enables access to online information resources using modern Information & Communication Technologies.

• The Library is started to functioning in October 2008 at Oriental University Indore, Campus, as a centre of information for the academic community. Within a short period of time the library attained a considerable level of development. The very ambience of the Library is appealing and user-friendly and is automated Fully CCTV with Wi-Fi network.

•  The library is automated with AUTO Lib. Integrated Library System. Library is using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system to organize the knowledge collection. Library is having good collection of documents on all subjects and total collection of book is around 39920 and 68 Periodicals and Renounced Database Subscribe by the Central Library .Library timing is 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. All the students, faculty members and staff are member of University Library. University Library has membership in DELNET. University Library is individually subscribing to both the Indian and foreign journals and Database . Library is regularly updating the new arrivals of books and journals issues to the students and faculty members. Regular Orientation Programmes are given to the library members.
