Message From Dean Pharmacy
Welcome to the Faculty of Pharmacy at Oriental University, Indore. The Faculty of Pharmacy is a vital part of the prestigious Oriental University, Indore, established under the visionary leadership of the late Dr. K. L. Thakral. Since its inception, the university has been committed to delivering quality education and fostering holistic development, a legacy that continues to thrive today. The Faculty of Pharmacy comprises two distinguished departments: Oriental College of Pharmacy and Research and University Institute of Pharmacy. These departments are dedicated to providing high-quality education, fostering innovation, and shaping future pharmacy professionals through excellence in teaching, research, and practical
training.
As a Dean, it is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to all new members of our academic community. In the ever-evolving healthcare landscape, pharmacists play a crucial role in patient care, medication management, and public health initiatives. They are not just dispensers of medicines but trusted healthcare professionals dedicated to safeguarding public health. However, to effectively address the challenges of the healthcare sector and ensure high quality pharmaceutical care, well-trained and knowledgeable pharmacists are essential.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO1: To foster leadership qualities in pharmacy graduates, enabling them to assume influential roles in pharmacy practice settings and actively contribute to the evolution of the pharmacy profession.
PEO2: To ensure ongoing professional growth through continuous learning activities and contribute to the advancement of the pharmacy field, specifically designed to address the needs of the pharmaceutical industry, community, and hospital pharmacies.
PEO3: To prepare pharmacy graduates with the knowledge, skills, and ethical
understanding to offer patient-centred care, including performing medication reviews, identifying drug interactions, and providing expert counselling on medication usage for optimal patient outcomes.
PEO4: To train graduates who are equipped to excel in higher education (domestically and internationally) or thrive in the pharmaceutical commercial sector. By using innovative teaching methodologies, the program encourages self-learning and problem solving, fostering a sense of responsibility to deliver quality healthcare services to society through skillful and dedicated pharmacy practice.
Program Outcomes (POs)
Pharmacy Knowledge:Possess knowledge and comprehension of the core and basic knowledge associated with the profession of pharmacy, including biomedical sciences; pharmaceutical sciences; behavioural, social, and administrative pharmacy sciences; and manufacturing practices.
Planning Abilities: Demonstrate effective planning abilities including time management, resource management, delegation skills and organizational skills. Develop and implement plans and organize work to meet deadlines.
Problem analysis:Utilize the principles of scientific enquiry, thinking analytically, clearly and critically, while solving problems and making decisions during daily practice. Find, analyze, evaluate and apply information systematically and shall make defensible decisions.
Modern tool usage: Learn, select, and apply appropriate methods and procedures, resources, and modern pharmacy-related computing tools with an understanding of the limitations.
Leadership skills: Understand and consider the human reaction to change, motivation issues, leadership and team-building when planning changes required for fulfillment of practice, professional and societal responsibilities. Assume participatory roles as responsible citizens or leadership roles when appropriate to facilitate improvement in health and well-being.
Professional Identity: Understand, analyze and communicate the value of their professional roles in society (e.g. health care professionals, promoters of health, educators, managers, employers, employees).
Pharmaceutical Ethics: Honour personal values and apply ethical principles in professional and social contexts. Demonstrate behavior that recognizes cultural and personal variability in values, communication and lifestyles. Use ethical frameworks; apply ethical principles while making decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes associated with the decisions.
Communication: Communicate effectively with the pharmacy community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports, make effective presentations and documentation, and give and receive clear instructions.
The Pharmacist and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety and legal issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional pharmacy practice.
Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional pharmacy solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change. Self-assess and use feedback effectively from others to identify learning needs and to satisfy these needs on an ongoing basis.
